Cover Reveal for Embody
It is surreal. I didn’t plan on publishing a book of poems. This collection of poetry came out of nowhere, it seems.
When the words knocked on my door I opened and allowed them to flow. They brought out a deeper level to my writing and to how I express my vision of the world. It was an unexpected surprise. I went with it and it took me to a collection of poems, not just for one book but for three: Embody, Embrace, and Embolden. More will be revealed soon about the others.
In preparation for the launch of Embody, I was asked a series of questions, one of which was to share advice for aspiring authors. I didn’t know what to say. I am still am an aspiring author. I have been working on, and I still am working on a novel—a few actually. But I haven’t published them.
I continue to write them and to write poetry and that is the essence of the advice I gave—to persist in writing. If you are moved by the written word, then keep at it. That is what I did. I have written in one way or another for my most life. In recent years I dedicated my time to it without having a sense of where it was taking me. I surrendered to what stirred within.
That is the other piece of advice. Surrender to the knowing that what is happening to us is for our greater good. We may not always get what we want, but we do get what we need—what we need to grow, to expand, to love, to be better, to be stronger, to be more courageous, to be more us. For me, that came in the form of writing.
