What Beta Readers are Saying About My Book

I reached out to a few beta readers for my book, Lonely Dove,

and I did so with trepidation. Even though my manuscript is complete, I am still finalizing the edits.

Also, I have been warned that the more people I show the book to, the more differing opinions I will be subjected to. And it couldn’t have been further from the truth. One person said they loved the dialogue because it was realistic and entertaining and another said it was the weakest component. Someone said they could have done without the Colombian and Indian food references, and another said it made their mouth water. I have to take it all with a grain of salt.

Still, the comments were promising:

“I loved it. It felt really good to read something with a happy ending during these times, despite all the suspicion. There is hope for happy endings. The book is very realistic yet entertaining which one may relate to. It helps us look with optimism into the future.” Elif Egeli

“Anji's journey of self-discovery is filled with pain and heartache, but she emerges strong and whole in the end. Lonely Dove reminds us to love ourselves for who we are and not who others want us to be.” Daanish Khan

Lonely Dove was unexpected in so many ways. Part love story, part mystery, and part a tale of self-discovery, it reeled me in and kept me hooked till the end. Throw in a dash of culture and an element of the supernatural, and we’ve got the perfect recipe for a love story that’s as timeless as it is entertaining.” Stephanie Caunter

“Powerful, spiritual, and full of insight. It was so easy to emotionally connect with Anjali’s journey and to cheer her on in her quest for love and self-knowledge. Such a heartwarming read!” Bilquis Ahmed

“The book takes us on a spiritual journey in search of a soulmate who surely exists but is ever so elusive. On the way, we encounter a colorfully descriptive universe of fragrant Indian spices, Colombian telenovelas, a gypsy with no eyelashes, ancient and timeless “twin flames” and the resolute determination of a woman to make sense of it all.” Qais Sultan

Lonely Dove is a delightful page-turner that uniquely captures life in New York City and the realistic challenges of finding a partner amid blended cultures. Like Eat, Pray, Love with slightly less traveling, this is a journey of love and not just the romantic kind. It pulled at my heartstrings and often made me hungry–both for more of the story and for some authentic Indian and Colombian food!” Gin Carter

Lonely Dove took me on an emotional journey that follows Anji’s compelling and devastatingly personal story while inspiring me to dig deeper into my own beliefs about the magic and power of the universe. I felt connected to Anji’s plight and with every chapter, my heart grew closer to her spirit. This story will speak to your heart and your soul.” Amy Kantorczyk

“It is the story of a woman who stays true to her quest for her soulmate. A realistic story that any person who grew up in a multicultural environment will identify with. The story follows Anji as she grapples with her Indian and Colombian background in a modern-day setting. Not a fairy-tale but a riveting spiritual journey that engages the reader until the last page.” Aleena Pitisant
