Sharing My Journey When I Wasn't Ready

At this time last year, I attended a writing retreat at Crom Castle in Northern Ireland organized by Serenity Press. I attended to improve my writing craft, find quiet time to work on my book, and learn from published authors.

One of the events was an author’s showcase where we, the participants, were asked to speak about our book and our writing, no matter our level of experience. We did this in front of a small local audience.

Most of my fellow attendees had vastly more experience than I did. They laid out exhibits to showcase their published work. All I had was an unfinished draft of my book. Even so, Serenity Press graciously offered to print mock-up of my book so that I could have something to show. Sadly the copy got lost in the mail and I had nothing to present.

Still, I stepped up to the podium and shared my journey.
