Metaphor for My Writing: Hummingbird

I have been reflecting upon my writing.

I thought about a metaphor for my journey.

I came up with a hummingbird.

I started writing novels two years ago. I completed the draft of one and I am actively editing it. I am halfway into a second and I have started another two. I also write poetry and hand-write stream of consciousness. The latter is a form of meditation and unraveling my psyche. I do some form of writing every single day.

I write about my experiences, my cultures, my travels, what I have learned, and what I wish to learn.

I can’t concentrate on one thing for an extended period of time. I move from task to task, focusing on one project for a few minutes, then another, and possibly a third or a fourth. It’s the only way to appease my overactive mind and my overachieving ego.

I wrote a poem to symbolize this metaphor:

Hover

And extract

In spurts of hues

Dashing

To and fro

Mining nectar

The bird

The typist

Racing the clock
